Waack’s Bakery takes the cake at business awards
Waack’s Bakery owner Chris Waack said he was absolutely rapt with the award and he was thrilled the bakeries employees’ hard work was recognised.
“The whole business has been buzzing after winning the award,” he said.
“We started in 1995 with just my wife Sue and me and another employee and now we have more than 50 people working for us.
“We are really keen to expand even further and I hope this award can make that happen.”
Mr Waack said he credited the award to having good quality ingredients and passionate staff.
“It’s a fantastic achievement – we had a great weekend celebrating it,” he said.
Northern Grampians Shire Mayor Ray Hewitt said Waack’s Bakery was a well-deserved winner and he was impressed with the high calibre of entries in the competition.
“The awards night showed how much the community has bounced back since the floods and how good the future looks for businesses in the region,” he said.
“It was evident that we have many strong industries including tourism and manufacturing so we don’t have to rely on just one.
“Johnny Thunder and the Lightnings and bush poet Colin Driscoll were also great entertainment on the night.”
Northern Grampians business services and tourism manager Debbie Bach said many deserving winners were crowned on the night.
“We had some outstanding businesses enter this year’s awards and it was fantastic to see them receive the recognition they deserve,” she said.
